Eligibility Criteria for GAT-B/ BET Exam 2025

Candidates are urged to review the BET and GAT-B 2025 eligibility criteria before completing the application form, as those who do not meet the requirements will not be considered for admission. Candidates can examine the criteria for each exam, which are listed below:

GAT-B Exam 2025

  • Candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in either of the following areas including Physical, Veterinary, Fishery Science, Agricultural, Biological, Pharmacy, Engineering, or Technology.
  • 4-year BSc (Physician Assistance Couse), Medicine (MBBS), or BDS graduates can apply.
  • Aspirants must be Indian Citizens.
  • Must have secured a minimum percentage of 60 per cent to 65 per cent for the unreserved category.
  • However, candidates belonging to reserved categories such as scheduled caste (SC)/ schedule Tribes (STs).
  • Aspirants must be 28 years of age at the last date of application.
  • No age relaxation is granted to candidates belonging to unreserved category (UR) or general category.
  • There is a five-year relaxation given to candidates belonging to Scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribe, i.e., candidates from these categories of scoiety can give exam upto 33 years of their age.
  • However, a three-year age relaxation is granted to female candidates. Therefore they can attempt up to 31 years of their age.

NTA BET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree (BE/BTech/MBBS) and a master's degree (MSc/MTech/MVSc/MPharm/Integrated MSc/MTech) in any subject of life sciences, biotechnology, or a related field of biology.
  • Applicants in their final year or awaiting final semester results are also eligible to take the BET exam.
  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum qualifying percentage of 60% (for general, EWS, or OBC categories) and 55% (for SC/ST/PwD categories).
  • Candidates should be at least 28 years old as of the application deadline. The age limit is relaxed by five years for reserved category candidates (33 years) and three years for women candidates (31 years).

NTA BET 2025: Application Fee

According to the official notification, candidates from the General (UR)/OBC-(NCL)/EWS categories must pay an application fee of Rs. 1300, while candidates from the SC/ST/PwD categories must pay Rs. 650.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

GAT B 2025 Exam Pattern

The GAT-B 2025 exam pattern, as well as the official notification, were announced by the NTA. Applicants taking the exam should refer to the GAT-B exam pattern for guidance. The GAT-B 2025 test design includes several questions, a marking scheme, time, and other elements. The question paper will consist of two sections. GAT B 2025 exam is divided into 2 sections including Section A and Section B.

  • Section B: Section B will include 100 multiple-choice questions for three points each. Candidates must attempt 60 of the 100 questions. Each incorrect response will result in a one-mark penalty.

BET 2025 Exam Pattern

The Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) will be administered on May 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The exam will be three hours long. The BET will be given online, with an English-language question paper. The BET 2025 question paper is divided into two sections:

  • Section "A" consists of 50 10+2 level multiple-choice questions in General Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, General Aptitude, Quantitative Ability, and General Biotechnology. Each question is worth one point, with a -1 denoting an incorrect response.
  • Section "B" will include 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in biotechnology-specific domains, with the candidate needing to answer at least 50. Each question carries three points, with a one-point loss for each incorrect response.

Syllabus Overview

The syllabus generally encompasses topics from:

  • Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, etc.
  • Physics: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, etc.
