Recently, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released new guidelines for revising the OTR (One-time Registration) profiles for aspiring candidates in the Civil Service Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) examinations. Candidates who are appearing for the UPSC CSE or UPSC IFS exam must submit their application before 11 February 2025. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) integrated and simplified the application process for several UPSC exams. Through OTR, candidates can create a profile and apply for a variety of UPSC exams. Candidates, however, need to register for the UPSC OTR. To apply for UPSC 2025, candidates must register and understand the UPSC OTR process.
What are UPSC OTR (One-time Registration) Profiles?
UPSC One-time Registration, which is often referred to as OTR, is a seamless process launched to introduce and clarify the application process for several UPSC exams. UPSC OTR is a profile that contains all the essential information of candidates appearing in any forthcoming UPSC exam. Candidates can save time and energy by registering themselves for UPSC OTS with all the essential information for any future UPSC Exam. The commission started the application process on 22 January 2025, UPSC OTR enable candidates to complete their hassle-free registration process. Also, candidates who are appearing in other exams of UPSC like UPSC NDA and other exams.
Steps to Follow OTR Registration
The UPSC OTR Registration gives a detailed method for creating a centralized profile. After registering, candidates can use their login information to practice for different UPSC tests. All applicants completing UPSC checks must first register for OTR, which guarantees a smooth transition to exam programs.
To create a proper and effective UPSC OTR profile, follow these steps.
Step 1: Visit the official UPSC Website: Candidates are advised to visit the official website of the UPSC.
Step 2: Make an OTR Profile: Candidates registering for the first time should register themselves by clicking on the “New Registration”. Existing candidates should log in with their login credentials.
Step 3: Verify OTP (One Time Password): Verify the OTP sent by the commission to your registered contact number after successfully submitting your email or mobile number.
Step 4: Login and Start Form Filling: Login to the exam dashboard with the generated login ID Password. Candidates are advised to review their prefilled details and complete the remaining fields.
Step 5: Provide Address Information: Candidates are required to fill in their correspondence (if any) and permanent address details. Check the checkbox in case both addresses are the same.
Step 6: Upload Signature and Photograph: During the application process, candidates are expected to upload scanned copies of their signature and passport-sized photographs in defined dimensions by the commission.
Step 7: Upload Educational Qualification Documents: Candidates should provide their academic details from their higher-secondary education and intermediate to highest educational qualification, which should be at least an undergraduate degree program from any recognised university. They should upload scanned copies of their educational documents with defined dimensions.
Step 8: Upload Important Documents: Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of documents required to complete their application. We have listed the names of such documents:
- A matriculation passing certificate is required for the proof of name and date of birth.
- Graduation degree certificate or mark sheets ( if they have completed their graduation).
- Final-year students can upload their mark sheets for the most recent semester.
- A valid photo identification document is required such as Aadhar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, etc.
- If candidates belong to any reserved category, they have to upload their Reservation category certificate or age relaxation claim certificate issued by any authority.
Step 9: Information of Parents: Now, candidates have to enter information about their parents including their names, education details, occupation, etc.
Step 10: Information about Employment: Candidates are required to provide information about their employment (if any).
Step 11: UPSC Exam History: If you are one of those candidates who already have given attempts in the past, you need to mention your previous UPSC attempts, departments, or any disciplinary actions that were taken against you.
Step 12: Achievements and Recognitions: mention any achievements, medals, recognitions, or prizes you have received during your academic or professional career.

A scanned passport-sized photo, a signature, and a legitimate photo ID proof (such as a passport, PAN card, or UID card) are required.
